Agate from Sumatra

Agates from Sumatra differ completely from one stream bed to another. These Agates are found here in many different colors, sizes and shapes. The most valuable kind found here is a natural nodule shaped Agate which contains strong internal banding. This type of Agate is rare and probably only accounts for the top 5%. During the dry season when the rivers are low there can be found sand banks in the streams meanders that lay below deep jungle canyons. These sand banks sometimes contain hundreds of kilos of gem grade agates. A lot of these remote alluvial deposits are left untouched by the local people to only be washed away the next rainy season.Agate-Sumatra
