Volcanic eruptions in Indonesia, debris flows and ash quickly buried ancient tropical trees large and small. This prevented decay and began the long process of turning wood fossils to stone. Silica rich groundwater seeped into the ring structures of the age-old tree trunks, infiltrated the cells, coated cell walls and filled intercellular cavities. As a result, the growth rings, bark and knots of some 25 million year old petrified tree fossils are well preserved. This rare Petrified Wood Tree is for sale.
